From the East

Brothers and Sisters,

Hello to all my Brothers and Sisters.  I hope that everyone is getting ready to enjoy a fun summer and taking care of themselves.  We have been REALLY busy at the lodge as of late so if you are not part of the email list that I send emails out to let me try to update you, and if you want to join the list please send me your email address (jtorres@shrinenet.org )

We raised  5 new Master Masons in our lodge on May 8th. Four of which are Fire Fighters.  We also helped raise a member of Palma Ceia on this night as well. We had a great showing of Brothers from all around and it was a success. These Brothers are excited and highly motivated. We also have initiated a total of 11 new members.  We had 6 on April 20th and 5 on May 4th.  So currently we have 12 EA’s. These Brothers surely have been working hard on their catechism and will by mid to late June be ready to give back their catechism and be passed to the degree of Fellow Craft.

My goal is to raise 59 members this year! Yes  59 NO MORE, NO LESS!!!  So if you have someone interested send me their contact information and I shall follow up and meet with them.  Fellowship lodge is also in the works with having a new resident.  We have opened our doors to the Mystic Chapter of Eastern Star to our lodge.  They have asked to come to us and we were happy to be able to assist our Brothers and Sisters.  Mystic Chapter comes to us from John Darling Lodge, where they had a strong and healthy relationship with them for many years until the situation became one that they had to seek elsewhere to have their meetings.

Our 3rd Saturday Breakfast is going well, but can still go better.  Please put it on your calendar. The next few are June 19th, July 17th, August 21st.  Come and enjoy the fun and Fellowship.  Support this event some how….

Myself and the Senior and Junior Wardens will be representing Fellowship Lodge at the Grand Communication held on May 31st thru June 2nd.  The legislation is on the Grand Lodge website.  If you have any questions on any of them please email us and let us know for we are voting with the thought of the lodge in mind.

Until next month Brothers and Sisters.  But as I said before any of you who want to get on my email listing for regular lodge updates email me on the above address.

Fraternally,

Adalberto Torres “Junior” WM

From the West

Brothers, we are getting ready to head off to Grand Lodge in Orlando. So far we have had a very busy start to the year. We have recently raised 6 new Master Masons, and I look forward to having them be a big part in our future success.  We also have 12 Entered Apprentices who are working hard to learn the catechism.  We are hoping to continue our success, and continue to bring new brothers to help our lodge grow.

Also, Brother Plotz, and myself are currently working on putting together a Bowling Fundraiser for our Lodge to help in raising money for our roof.  We need all the help we can get, in order to make this a success. Please come to lodge, and/or give us a call to let us know what you can do to help make this event a big success.

Finally, I hope to continue to see Brothers return to Lodge for our stated meetings, and our degree practices.

 Fraternally,

 Sean Fontaine SW

From the South

Brethren,

I hope all is well with you and your family. Well, the month of May was a very busy month for our Lodge, we brought in five new EA's and five new Master Masons. Our lodge is growing and that my brother's is great thing to see.

I'm still working on the dates for our Bowling Tournament, which will be held in September. I will be sending out the challenge to all Lodges in the 22nd District and to all of the Ladies Organization's ( Eastern Star, White Shine, and Amaranth) of the 22nd District. We hope that all the Lodges will participate in this, our first annual 'Three Brother's Bowling Tournament' fundraiser. We are going to have great food and raffles for some great prizes, and a lot of fun. Please, plan on being there.

Well that's all from the South this month, and I hope to see all of our brother's at our Stated meetings.

 Be safe,

Steven Plotz JW

From the desk of the Secretary

Brothers,

Dues are important to keep the lodge running as we have a $40,000 a year budget to manage.  To date we still have about half of the dues money in and the rest are now delinquent with notices going out after Grand lodge.

DUES are due by December 27th of the year you receive your notice and delinquent after that. For those of you who are Shriners, Scottish Rite, York Rite masons we do notify these orders of delinquent members, so keep your Blue Lodge dues current.

On a happier note I want to congratulate Steve Jacobson on being picked to be the new District Deputy of the 22nd District.  I am pleased to be on his traveling committee this year as chairman of Child ID program.

From the Chaplain

Keep our Chaplain’s wife in your prayers since she lost her sister recently along with other issues in her family. John Amato has been dealing with kidney stones for over a month and just learned that W.: Ron Brightman of Palma Ceia lodge has been in the hospital with kidney stones too. Mark Foltarz Senior Warden of Palma Ceia Lodge is recovering from 2nd and 3rd degree burns on his leg.

If you know of any sickness or distress let the Master, secretary, or myself know. We all know power of prayer, so let us increase the power of prayer and we can let the person know with a card too.

Brothers and Sisters Memorial Lodge is set up to perform memorial services for a deceased Sojourner and assist local Lodges in Masonic memorial and funeral services. With 17 Lodges in Hillsborough county we only have a few attend the services.  We need more to help in these services and to become members so we can contact you when a service is needed. Membership is open to any member of any Lodge and the dues are only $5.00 per year.

Come to the 3rd Saturday breakfast at Fellowship Lodge and attend Memorial Lodge following the breakfast. Breakfast starts at 8:00 AM and Memorial Lodge is at 10:00 AM.

1st & 3rd Wednesdays at 7:30 PM

Thanks to all of those who attended the meeting on May 5th and to H.L. Dorothy Long for serving as Royal Matron. Our Memorial service for our deceased members (Hazel Waters, Thomas Comfort, and Mary Elizabeth Patterson)  was held on May 19th and all the officers did a beautiful job.  It was quite a moving ceremony.   Grand Court will be May 26-29th in Jacksonville, Fl.   H.L. Cathy and SK Stephen Edson are looking forward to representing Century Court #58 as your Royal Matron and Royal Patron.  Our own SK Douglas Harris will be installed as Grand Warder.  Congratulations Doug.

At our meeting on June 2nd, we will honor Grand Appointments and refreshments will be served by H.L. Joan Hundley and H.L. Ruth Murray.   On June 16th we will have an initiation for Theda Tooma and honor Fathers. The program will be given by Georgia Deshong and refreshments will be served by Francis Jones. We will be dark in July and August for summer break.  The Amaranth State School of Instruction will be held on August 21st.  More details on this will follow in the next newsletter.  We hope to see more of you at the next meeting and would love to have some sideliners for the initiation ceremony.  Let us know if you need a ride.

Eastern Star

Meetings

2nd & 4th Wednesdays at 8:00 PM

Palma Ceia OES is proud to announce that Sister Judy Covey has been elected Associate Grand Conductress in the Grand Chapter of Florida and we look forward to helping her on her journey to the Grand East.  Her Honor Night will be July 10, 2010 at the Zendah Grotto.  Registration starts at 5 PM with the dinner at 6 PM.  If you need tickets please call Patrice Barker at 813-300-3302.  Raffle tickets for the Christmas Money Tree (thanks again to Sister Joan Hundley for the beautiful job) are available, the drawing will be on December 8th after our Official Inspection.

Our School of Instruction was on May 7th under the direction of Claudine Rogers, the District Instructor.  We were able to learn a lot, but were disappointed in the turnout.  If you missed the school, please talk to Sister Patrice to find out just what changes you missed.  Our first meeting on June 9th will be a stated meeting and Cathy Edson has the refreshments.  June 23 is Landmarks with Joann Wilson having the program. It is also Brothers Night, so ask a Brother to be your Brother. We will also honor Fathers and have a Flag Tribute by Robert Thibedeaux. Refreshments are to be by June Dobbs. We will be in Recess for July and August, but don’t forget to put the Rob Morris picnic on your calendar for Aug. 29th at 2:00 PM at Fellowship Lodge.

Johnnie Mae Lanier, Supreme Public Awareness-Cancer.   Congratulations to everyone.  (Hopefully, we left no one out. If so, let us know and we will put it in the next newsletter.) On our June 7th meeting we celebrate Father’s Day and Soj. Dorothy Long will have the program. and Soj. Cathy Edson will have refreshments.  On June 21st, we will have our School of Instruction and our  Supreme Instructor, Soj. Mary Alonzo will be giving The instruction, and Soj. Debra Kimbril will have refreshments.  July and August we will be Dark.  No Meeting Sept. 6th, due to Labor Day.  We will be back to work Sept. 20th.  We hope all of you will have a great summer, get rested and be ready for the Fall meetings.  We hope to see more members at the meetings, all of the officers need support and its always nice to have sideliners.
